Hiss by David Shrigley is a limited edition poster that was released in 2023 and instantly sold out.  Thankfully we've been able to get our hands on a copy!

Snakes feature prominently in David Shrigley artwork such as his well know 'Serpent' sculpture.  Indeed one of the artist's most used motifs are animals.  Shrigley, like most human beings, often bestows human traits onto animals and sees them as a mirror for human behaviour.

David Shrigley's animals are often seen in awkward of existential quandrys, a commentary on our own anxieties and absurdities.

The animals in David Shrigley's artwork are often imbued with human characteristics, challenging human exceptionalism.  The playful anthropomorphosizing makes animals seem more like us, prompting us to question our place in the animal kingdom and the universe's grand scheme.

In 'Hiss' a snake is seen hissing into a telephone.  Is it having a conversation?  Is the cobra annoyed with customer service.  Is the snake the source of the omnipresent hiss of a telephone line?  Who knows... we only know we love David Shrigley's Hiss snake poster.
